Trading standards site listing

Had an email from trading standards today saying they had added my company to this site: **URL REMOVED**
An entry is automatic derived from REAL membership.
Opportunity to big oneself up in reviews,
or to slag off the competition.
And they really want you to buy a £75 upgrade for the privilege of being listed.
Am I getting too cynical as I get older?
I hope everyone plays nicely!

The site does attempt script injection via an i-frame. It might be the site advertising or possibly the site is actually malicious or maybe hi-jacked/hacked. Bruce, please don't repost the link.

I am surprised its a scam. It came to an address only real/recc have and I do not think our emails are visible on the recc site for harvesting.

I don't think it is a scam. Trading Standards appear to have contracted with the publisher of that site.

It's part of the process where Trading Standards have taken over responsibility for certain matters from the Office of Fair Trading. It was the hiatus caused by this pending transfer that has, somewhat paradoxically, blocked anyone from setting up in competition with REAL.

Trading Standards themselves do not appear to have announced the launch of this yet though - but see Consumer Codes - Trading Standards Institute - doubtless it is a part of the 'self-funded' nature of the new scheme.

I've browsed the site, with Adblocker activated, without any problems.
