I caught the train to work last Monday and back home on Friday, on Monday it travelled at 100mph and Friday for some reason only 50mph. My mate said your train travelled at an average speed over the round trip of 75mph. What an idiot I said to him don't be so stupid, he's still trying to work out the average speed and it's now Saturday.............................

I thought someone would of worked this out by now, but alas no, I'm going have to put the correct answer up myself I think

I got pulled over by the police once, he said " the reason i pulled you over is cos you were doing 100mph" , i said " it can't have been me i haven't been out an hour"

To make maths easy lets say journey 1 way is 100miles. This means you will have done 100miles at 100mph which would take 1hour, and 100miles at 50mph which would take 2 hours. This means your 200mile journey would take 3 hours. 200miles / 3 hours = ave speed 66.6mph.
