Hi,
Im after some advice on the best training route.

I have already completed my c & g 2365 level 2, I the got taken on by an electrician who said he'd put me through my apprenticeship but fobbed me off so have had a year with no college. I am now with a self employed electrician who is willing help me gain my qualification but neither of us are sure on whats the best route for me. The c & g 2357 apprenticeship course is 4 years long - ideally I don't want to be at college for another 4 years - also it seems that a lot of the 2365course has already covered some of the 2357 course material, the colleges also require key skills in maths and English which I have already done.

are there alternative routes that arent going to cost the earth as im 19 and on a basic wage but are going to fully qualify me?

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum.

If you are going to enrol on the 2357 then ask about "recognition of prior learning".
The course units you have done for the 2365 should count toward your qualification for the 2357 (where they overlap) and reduce the amount that you need to cover again.

Unfortunately my local college wont accept my previous qualifications and say I have to start the course at year one with the rest of the class - particularly as they say i have to redo a maths and english - this would be the 3rdmaths and english exam ( i passed them both the last 2 times too!!)this is the reason I am looking for something else, I would have been quite happy to jump on at year 2/3.
