Trainee Electrician looking for work experience

I'm 31 and retraining towards a career in becoming a qualified electrician. I'm currently doing my 2382 and 2377 exams at the end of April. As I'm not doing an apprenticeship I'm looking to gain work experience and am finding it difficult to get on with an electrician or an agency especially as I haven't got my ECS of CSCS. I want to go as far as I can as an electrician and eventually work towards gaining my 2391. I live in Bolton and am looking for work experience in the Lancashire/Greater Manchester area. Does anyone have any advice on the best way forward and/or anything they can offer in terms of work experience?
