Training courses

Can anyone help? i am looking to train as a PV installer and domestic electrician. i have no previous experience. i have been looking at the various courses available and in particular a course with New Career Skills which is a combination of home study and 5 weeks at their centre in Chandlers Ford. My question is; are there genuine opportunities having completed the course? or are they a waste of time and money wth no 'real world' qualification? I would really appreciate any advice as £7,000 is a lot of money i dont really have to waste!

Cheers

Before you part with any money just scroll through the forum and see how many guys are looking for work, and these are guys that have been in the industry for many years.

I would never discourage anyone from wanting to do things, but before you part with a lot of money then read, think and take stock of what is really happening out here in the industry. After all New Career Skills only exist if people are willing to do their courses and their advice could be predjudiced. There are not a shortage of electricians for domestic work, employers now have a pick of guys and will only take on experienced, proven electricians, and just look at how many DI there are in your area.

As harsh as it seems this is the truth at the moment there is not a nationwide shortage of sparks and i dont think there has ever been!
I would save your money at the moment to be honest when things pick up try the old fashioned apprenticeship route as 6 week sparks are not well received in the industry.
