I think I've somehow managed to upset the central locking on my transit (mk7) as when you lock it all up, it seems to think there's a door still open in the back, locks the front only and then beeps. I'm pretty sure it's not a mechanical issue (unless a sensor has just failed) - anyone have any advice as to either resetting it or just being able to force the back to lock regardless?

I had similar problem with an astra van, it turned out something was wedged between the door and the hinged side, keeping the door off the switch, hence the central locking thought the door was still open.

Try opening the rear door driver side and operate the inside handle. then lock it all up as normal.
This happened on a 10 plate transit last year, more than once.

Boydy

Had the same thing a few years ago, the sensor had moved and wasn't making when the door was shut, every time i locked it the horn woud go. Took it in and the guy had it fixed in minutes. I'd give that a check mate

old remedy applies. if you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem.

I had the same problem with my mk7. I had given up until my apprentice inadvertently slammed a door (passenger I believe) and presto!

Probably a fluke but worth a shot.

Ive had this on my transit. On the right of the side loading door theres a hole in the pillar which I was storing long drill bits in, the tip of a drill bit was shorting all the wires out lol.

Removed drill bit - problem solved.

If your looking at the sliding door from the outside, look to the bottom right, on the inside youll see some contacts when you close the door these should meet up with the plate on van...(If you look you'll see what I mean)...

Try cleaning them see if it fixes it. If not you need to see if the contacts line up with the plate by putting some kind of marker on the contacts (paint, tip ex or something that wipes off easy) and closing the door so you can see if the contacts line up with the plate...my door needed adjusting and apparently it's a common problem on them...

Well.....it was a bit bizarre, tbh, but now fixed. There was a very definitely folded and meant to have been put there, piece of paper caught just in between the rear door lock and the bracket it sits in, and it was stopping the mechanism from fully actuating. How long it had been there for I've no idea but I obviously 're'-lodged it the other day without realising. The amount of grime on the outer folds suggests it's been there for a very long time (and I've had the van for two years!).

Is this some pikey thieving trick?

Probably someone who wanted to lock the front doors but leave the rear doors open for getting stuff out, without having to watch who was opening the front.

The front and back unlock independently anyway, it's a mystery!
