Could someone help me out with this question, just starting to get my head around transposition then this! “ make R subject”. Don’t know if it’s X squared *L or X *L squared? In the square route part. I came up with Z - XL = R. Would really appreciate any advice

You're correct. R = √XL2 -Z2.

all depends on what you mean by transposition. is it to dig out 1 of the variables, or turn the bloody thing right way round so my neck doesn't suffer?

Yes I had to make “R” the subject of the formula on its own. Sorry about pic rotation!

so R^+X^ = Z^
R^ =Z^ - X^
R = sq.rt, (Z^ -X^)
