have come across a few of these shower burning out the inlet terminal lately has anybody else come across this just wondering if this is a common fault with the T80xr. this is the only triton model i have seen with this problem here's a picture

It's not a fault specific to the Triton TX80XR mate. We see this type of damage, due to poor cable termination, across a wide spectrum of modern shower units. The higher the power of the shower unit the greater the risk of termination issues.
In the not so distant past, manufacturers used porcelain terminal blocks with double screw terminals each side and this type of damage was rare event; retrograde progress not confined to shower units, it's common in modern consumer units where single screw terminals are also the norm!
