A garden shed with an exported earth from a TNCS in the house is outside the equipotential zone and so needs a TT earth. The shed supplies an electric fence (for chickens - a transformer pulses a high voltage thru the wire of the fence) just outside it and part of this system has an earth rod. Would it be ok to use this earth rod for the shed's TT?
Thinking about it, you would be introducing the pulsing voltage of the fence to the shed and the metal of any earthed appliances - there aren't any and there isn't any structural metal either but that is not the point. Even if you put a separate earth rod in, the ideal location would be near the fence so, again the same problem ?
Would you have to put a separate earth rod in away from the electric fence and its earth rod?
The fence is in contact with grass - does the pulse flow back through that or just when the fox puts it nose on the fence with its feet firmly planted on the ground. IE the chance of the pulse being put back into the shed will be pretty small
I suppose i should touch the fence's earth rod and see but i am a chicken too :D

Thanks for reading and any opinions welcome :)

Why cant it be tncs in the shed?? as long as it is not a swimming pool, construction site or temporary installation etc, there is no reason why it has to be a TT.

Problem solved if that is the case, but was under the impression (rightly or wrongly) that you could not export the earth on a pme/tncs ( but you can with a tns?). Distance is about 50M. Anyone know the regs concerning this

What is the definition of a temporary installation - i take it a wooden shed is not considered temporary???
