Hi
This is my first post and I was hoping someone out there could impart some pearls of wisdom:)

The majority of older TT systems I have come across have main earthing conductor between 2.5 and 4mm.
On testing these the readings are always well below the 200ohms required but do I need to record this
on the PIR as a Code4 as it does not comply with current regs?
As far as I understand Buried earthing conductors not mechanically protected need to be 16mm.

Would I be right to say that as long as the RA of the electrode is sufficiently low enough I do not need to do any thing else?
TT systems always perplex me as the earths are always so small!

Cheers

yes always record your results also in the departures state the fact the earth is undersize also no rcd as a main switch at 100ma and a 30ma second rcd to protect all other circuits requiring one ,hope this helps ceri

Why would the RCD fail … yes it can happen but then it may not. Without it you have no protection on the TT System
