I am wiring a garage and bedroom extension to an Ex council house in a small local village, the supply is a TT, I have been told that the suppliers will change it to a TNCs supply. I would much rather the TNCS. I would have to install a new earth spike as the origional is under the concrete floor of the garage and there is only 4mm earth going to it..... I would assume that there is TNCS supplies in the village, there are some new houses. Basically what I'm asking, can the supplier easily convert to TNCS supply. The meter needs to be moved anyway. Thanks in advance.

simple job for them. you will probably have to go back and install 16mm main earthing conductor to the earth terminal, after they have been

Thanks, I have already installed a new split load 12 way, ready for the meter when they move it. EDF. I would asume it would just be a new end attatchment to the neutral. Allowing the Earth 16mm to be attached. 16mm is all ready installed in the new cu, with a length left spare.....which originally was going to go to the new earth rod. Thanks for replying. Good to hear it from someone else to make sure.

No Problem. I didn't say they were changing it. They were just going to move the meter.

You dont seem to be making sense!!!

You can still in the meantime install your earth rod, it will be left in place connected to the MET after the DNO provide the PME connection. It'll then serve as a locally installed N-E point to the installations PME supply!!

Blimey, I wondered what the hell was going on there?! Thought my account had been hacked by someone who wanted to talk about TT and TNCS!

Out of interest DNS, why have you nicked my username?! :death:

Is there a story behind it?!

To DNS1, I'm sorry, I haven't pinched your user name. I'm known as DNS. From the Army to the security world. Funnily enough, last night when I looked on this forum and saw DNS1 and said to my wife, look somebodys nicked my user name. lol. I joined with DNS in 2010, this is the first time I have used the forum.
The story behind it. It's my name and surname (which is double barrel) and was too long to write in boxes provided for names on forms. So it was abbreviated to DNS about 17 years ago.
What's your story, why DNS1. I see you only joined in April 2011. Is that why you have the 1. So really, you couldn't pinch my user name. lol.

To Glenspark and engineer54. Thak you for your replies. Firstly yes I am upgrading all the bonding etc. To bring it up to regs.
I have spoken now to the distributers who are coming to move the meter and also install the PME connection, I may install the new earth rod since I have it already, it makes sense what you have suggested. Many thanks. And finally to Ditto, Thanks for your reply, But it didn't seem to make any sense.
