can i just add to this so i dont start a new thread
what are materials? i am doing a material list and i know cable is a material but are lights and trunking/conduit materials or are these accessorys

Anything and everything needed to do a job. Jobs are usually split for pricing into materials and labour, so it's anything that isn't labour, lol.
Go through it in your head and list everything, down to sleeving, grommets, fixings.
I take it this is for a homework ?
Don't forget to include a tools list as well.
