Hi Guys,

I'm currently studying for my C&G qualification and I was asked by my Dad about his new double oven and induction plate.
One of the Ovens is 2.2kW and the other is 2.8kW, also the induction plate is 440W. All appliances have 13A fused plug.

If I apply Diversity to the whole setup

I get 5440/230v = 23.65 amps

10a + (0.3 * 13.65) + 5 = 19.1 amps

Could you have two radial circuits of 2.5mm cable. One to run the 2.8kW oven and one to run the 2.2kW oven and the induction plate?

Would these then be attached to two 20A MCB's?

What sort of fused connection unit would you use?

Thanks for any insight you can give

In a word, No.
A 20 amp breaker is close to (in some cases over) the max capacity for 2.5. Personally I'd run 2 either 4mm or 6mm radials with one supplying a double socket to allow for the induction plate and lower rated oven. Obviously lengths of run and installation methods will affect things so always err on the side of caution!

Thanks very much for the advice, so just to clarify....32amp MCB with 6mm T+E feeding a 45amp control switch with a 13amp socket
