Arn't they called wire nuts. Been used in North America and Canada for years. Probably why they only allow accessible junctions if they are all done with these.

How exactly do they work? Do you strip your cable, then just put the cap on and twist?? How does it not come off??
I prefer the Wago type of push in connectors myself.

The ones I used 30 odd years ago were very secure. Twist wires together and screw female cable on. Worked with multi stranded cable.

Just removed a load of old ceramic ones on a re-wire. Seen them used in Canada quite a bit, but they were always accessable. Personal preference would be wago or helcons..............

Ideal are a pretty big concern so I reckon they're not going to release something in UK that's a bit poo. BUT I like a tensioned connection like WAGO or HELACON or does something lock in the Ideal connector? more info please!!

When I firs seen them, thought, If you have to take them apart the cable will be all twisted and then you'd have to straighten it and thus would not consequently be a very neat job. Also what if a conductor was in the middle and not as secure as those on outer edge.

I've heard of people coming back from America with bags of them and liking them but also as above majority don't like the idea enough to try even.

My choice is Wago / Helacon.

I've always known them as "screwits".

Thats what I know them as. If you find any of the old grip conduit and VIR cable still in use you may find them on any cable joints that were done during the original install

A few years ago I think a company advertised them and were trying so sell them but I don't think there reintroduction was accepted by the trade and fell by the wayside
