hi everyone,

i went back to a job that i previously changed a consumer unit and certified. and i have noticed the builders/kitchen fitters have attached two 3.5kw ovens to a 32amp mcb 3 socket ring circuit wired in 2.5mm twin and earth. i have told the client. what else can i do? help grately appreciated.

thanks

if they knew they were getting electric ovens why didnt they ask you to pull a 6mm feed in whilst you done the new board. and how have they connected the ovens

Theres not much you can do . As this is a kitchen it should have a dedicated cooker circuit as there are limits on cookers etc in ring circuits not exceeding 2kw which sould be on a radial. Have they been hard wired ? If so they have altered your circuit and it nothing to do with you. Write a letter to Home owner / builder explaining this and potential mcb tripping due to overload and keep a copy with your certification. Show it to your accessor next time. If they have problems they will probably call you back.

Was the LABC notified by the kitchen fitters, bet they didn't notify so why not inform them to the LABC.
