Hi there,

I have a slight issue whilst installed tow White Goods in the kitchen (the dishwasher and the washing machine). Originally we had just a single socket and i know that you cant really put two high amperage white goods onto an extension lead or adapter.

So i went about swapping the single wall socket for a double, which i have done a tonne of times before. The new double socket is 13A rated and has been properly and neatly wired up. However when i plug both the dishwasher and washing machine in at the same time, the circuit box blows.

I can plug in one machine at a time on either of the two sockets, and that's fine, but not both at same time.

The only thing that i can think of now, is that maybe the original cable that leads to this socket as not a high enough amperage cable?

Would anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks for your help

Marcus

I'm missing something where does it say it's 16amp circuit?

It doesn't, as usual we are pxssing in the wind as the OP has posted a rubbish thread and hasn't returned to add IMPORTANT details, which too often, are sadly lacking.

It could be a 6A circuit, previously used for a boiler, that would hold for a while!

Hi there,

The circuit box is a modern Circuit Breaker type, i have no idea what else is on the same cable, so i have to assume that it is being overloaded further down the line or the cable is only setup for something like 6 or 10amp as suggested.

Of course i am DIYer, but the forum wouldn't let me post in the DIY section. There is definately no fault with the wiring on both plugs work fine for normal appliances, its' only when i plug in two large amperage devices at once that i get issues.

I havn't reposted in 8 hours because i don't spend my whole life on the internet.

I believe i asked a simple question of "whether maybe the amperage for the circuit is not high enough as it should be" and some people answered this and some people were just plain unhelpful.

I shall just back track the wire and look at the circuit box and work it out for myself, is most likely just that this circuit is not the right amperage as expected.
