Type of downlighter - suggestions please

Hi, I've attached a photo I took of a clients light fitting which isn't working. I'm having a "senior moment" day and I'm hoping some of you useful people can help tell me how to extract transformer so I can test it.

I've never seen one like that.

I can't believe how clean your finger is. Do you use gloves and barrier cream when working?

by pulling the flex from the light, you should be able to pull the tranny out through the hole. check that the cable from tranny to light is not fried. it's a common problem.

Marvo, my finger is clean because I've had a nice "clean" day doing jobs indoors - the previous 3 days, working in a freezing renovation with open doors, no light or heating is another thing!

Telectrix, I've looked closely at the cable as far as I can until is dissappears into the hole you see in the picture. So if I pull hard the "grid" thing will come out too?

Looks like there might be a spring clip holding the grid thing in place.

Marvo, well spotted, but could it be the clip that should hold the lamp in place? The customer's husband had taken it down last night!

take the whole fitting out, shiny chrome bits, the lot.
