Discuss Ufh + rads = electric boiler in the Central Heating Systems area at ElectriciansForums.net

Tom Parry

I have rough experiences with central heating , a sub main is being run for the central heating alone in 16.00 t+e

circuits -
electric boiler 11 kw
heating controls
immersion (not going to be used )

I have wired y plans before and have so far wired stats in for ufh to manifold

run 2 three cores between boiler and ufh manifold already :freak:

stats also run for rads upstairs can anyone give me a brief idea of how ufh is connected to the boiler as i have never done ufh before.
is it ok to run it off the heating controls supply also?

any plans would be special :icon14:
the owner wouldlike to be able to control this off a app if thats possible
regards

You need to refer to the wiring diagram for you particular system.
Presumably you have read a wiring diagram to establish the requirement for the cables you have already installed? Or did you just take a wild guess at it?

i know that but it was more of just fore knowledge

Heatmiser neo thermostats will allow control manually and via an app when used in conjunction with the heatmiser hub/gateway. You could use a purpose made wiring centre like the heat miser UH3 for example and use zone 8 and channel 1 to control the upstairs rads. You could also use a heatmiser neo hot water controller so your customer has control of the hot water via the app. Depending on the type of boiler it may require volt free switching or 230V switching but that can easily be achieved either way using the grey and oranges of the two port valves. All the control wiring should be either fed direct from the boiler or from the load side of a SFCU but this will depend on what boilers being installed. Now is the time to be asking these questions and discussing the options with the plumber and customer.....will your customer want the added expense of using the neo thermostats, does the control wiring need its own supply, etc etc. For all you know the plumber could be providing a network setup that requires belden cable between the thermostats and wiring center. At the moment you don't have enough info to base any decisions on and there are to many variables to just guess at it. Once you know the make/models of the equipment being installed, the customers full requirements and so on then we will be able to provide you with a little more assistance and may even be able to knock you up a color by numbers wiring diagram
