hey guys I have been asked to install this kind of system in a bathroom by a friends brother who is a tiler.

Does anyone no a rough price of what to charge ?

I havent seen the job yet so I will be taking into account that I may need to protect the circuit with an RCBO if not done already. I will need to put in a switched fused spur and a stat control. raggled into the wall

The job is in Edinburgh which is a fair distance from me (30miles) , so I need to make sure its worth my while doing it

cheers
Dougie

you could fit a RCD FCU if that were aan easier option. are you supplying the heating mat /stat, etc. ? i would price materials + 1 day. don't forget to do a continuity, IR test and EIC before the tiles are laid. if it is faulty afterwards, then it's not your fault.

I wont be supplying the heating mat. I will be supplying all other material.

I said to my mate around the £200 mark as a rough price without looking

yeh I would always test the element haha. Iv heard a few horror stories from guys at work who fitted them on the kits.

about right. £200 min. prob. up to £260. you got best part of 2 hours driving.

is it mat or cable off a roll. ? if the latter, run up and down 4" between runs, sensor wherever it'll go without crossing cables. element and sensor to controller outside bathroom, FCU adjacent to controller. wire up, programme the control and away.

i would be inclined to use 3.5mm or 4mm clips to secure it if necessary, not staples, i walked off a job where the plumber had laid a cable element using uninsulated staples ( like for alarm and phone cable ) i said " i'm not connecting that "

Go on you tube as lots of manufactures have install videos .

If you hav't done one before have a quick look.

Make sure your cold tails and temp pobe are long enough to fit you control stat wherever you site it...

hmmm thanks for that tip . will keep that in mind!

haha plumbers eh ! cant trust them to do anything ! I was on a job today, the plumber was removing part of the kitchen with the joiner and he cut the 10mm going to the water ! arghh I was going to swing for him !
