The underfloor heating controller says it will be able to pull a maximum of 16 Amps.

The supply is from a 20 RCBO. 2.5mm Twin and earth to a 13 Amp switched fused spur. The load side of the spur feeds the underfloor heating controller.

The owner is saying that if for what ever reason the underfloor heating controller was pulling 18 Amps, the fuse spur will not blow. I know this is the case as 13 Amp fuse will take around 19 Amps for a long period of time. The undefloor heating has been designed to take 8 Amps but from an electrical point of view is this circuit unsafe in anyway?

Help would be appreciated

1. what's the kw rating of the mat?

2. how has the customer arrived at this figure of 18A?

3. have you done any testing?

answer the above and you may get some help.

The controller does not pull 16 amps , it has a maximum rating of 16 amps .

You say the total load of the mat is 8 amps so what is the problem ?
