Yesterdays call out, plumber has drilled into a cable and all the sockets are now off. Got there and found this

He couldn't have hit it any better, square on straight through. The part of the cable he drilled is in a safe zone but as you can see its running diagonally to feed the up stairs leg of the ring. 2 inch higher or lower he would have been fine, very unlucky to hit it just at that point and I think his drill is blown.

When you say 'safe zone' do you mean where it would be considered safe to drill, or safe as in you are allowed to run cables there?
If it's the second then I'm well confused, as I don't know how you could run cables diagonally and stay with the proscribed zones?

I'm not trying to be facetious, just trying to understand :wink5:

Cheers

Jbl the photo doesn't show that the drilled part is within 150mm of a corner. The plumber should have used a cable finder before getting his drill out. As for it being diagonal, original wiring from the 70's and I'll put it down to a Friday afternoon job and the spark wanting to finish and get to the pub.

hope you charged him well. then again if you are reasonable, he may return the favour next time you drill through a pipe. ( if you can get him to come out before the reservoir is emptied. ) . give his number to I=P/U
