Been to see a job where someone has had a brand new bathroom and ensuite shower room done.
The electrician changed the lights and put up a new pull cord but never installed any extract fans.
I have costed for 2 inline fans as easy access to the loft and propose to vent via the soffit.
They have asked I just install the fans and they will do the ducting and soffit grill themselves to keep the cost down...
I don't have a particular problem with this arrangement.
Opinions please ??

Request them to do the ducting before hand inspect before you do any work??

I would say fair enough. I would make sure that it is clear that you have just done the electrical wiring and connection only though on the invoice. I would - one way or another - state that the venting aspect is being done by someone else.

I have done similar before when a roof tile vent is needed.

Yeh, fine. Let them do all the squeezing in the attic to get into thin bit above the soffit, and the high ladder work fixing a grill.

Just make sure it’s all itemised on the invoice that you are doing fan only, not ducting.... so any steamy leaks into their attic isn’t your fault.

Thanks ,

I will do my quote with and without ducting to soffit.
I will knock off ÂŁ40.00 if they want to DIY the duct and grill and see what they say.

Its quite an easy job nothing to difficult , so I am not fussed either way really...
