Hi hope I'm in the right place?! very impressed with this site so decided to throw this one into the ring - We have a Baxter back boiler with British Gas UP2 programmer. The programmer has recently been playing up. Our heating is coming on at correct time but going off 2 hours earlier than programmed - regardless of how high we have thermostat (and red light is still on) - We have tried using the Advance button - but that is not clicking on at all so that hasn't worked. Last night it was really cold so my husband managed to get the heating back on by pressing on the Advance button on the Water button! - all very confusing! - any advise would be appreciated!?

Thanks Leg

I would at first ask if anything has been changed recently, has the programmer been rewired, have the timings been changed, new heating fittings installed?
I am not well versed in heating systems, so be aware that I may not be correct.

From what you describe of advancing the water to turn on the heating it sounds like your programmer is wired for the heating controls to control the hot water and the hot water to control the heating.
If the water was already hot and you advance the "heating control" then the water would not come on because it was hot, though the display (if any) should show "on".
Compare the programmed times for heating and hot water and see if the heating is coming on / off in relation to the hot water timings.

Alternatively if one of your valves has failed "off" (depending on how your system is plumbed) then turning on the hot water may be inadvertently supplying heat to the heating, but this would not explain the heating coming on initially.

Hi

If it has stopped performing just recently, try and have a look at the day light savings in the setup menu. This may well have changed the times so that it comes on earlier while your asleep and dont notice it, but it turns off earlier and obviously you notice that as you are awake and its getting cold.
