The cores, only require identifying at the terminations, which could be by colour or alphanumeric means.
It's not required to oversleeve them.

Old Colours L1-RED L2-YELLOW L3-BLUE
New Colours L1-BROWN L2-BLACK L3-GREY

Now I always sleaved the yellow as the earth, as the blue and red was obvious.
So now I sleave the black as earth and the grey as neutral.
If im using a 3core and Earth using another core as a Switch Line, the black is used as SW/L and sleaved Brown.

what i can't understand is, back in the 90's the IEE made the regs. into a BRITISH Standard so as johhny foreigner could not interfere with our standards. lo and behold along come the brussels bureaucraps and makes us adopt these stupid new colours which nobody agrees with, nobody wants. next thing they'll have us driving on the wrong side of the road and eating frog's legs and cheese.

I'm bored with the EU, I reckon we should call it a day. They seem to exist purely to boss us around and cost us money. [/euro-rant]
Cheese is good though. Best invention ever. Loads better than sliced bread.

but you need the sliced bread to make the toast to put the cheese on. agree with your comment on the eurinal. time we got out before we have the germans in control ( like they tried in 1940 ). why should we be forced to pay out billions to get greece and spain out of the sh** they have made for themselves ( no offence to mayfair ) . wonder if ken has any thoughts on this.

You could have an old-fashioned tin loaf and slice it yourself.
It's not just the bailouts though, take the harmonised colours for instance - we were told it was to bring everything in line with the rest of europe, so we fell into line and started using the silly colours while the rest of europe continue to use whatever colour tickles their fancy.
You can't open a newspaper without seeing a story about some new euro-nonsense which is being foisted onto us, eroding our national identity for fear of massive financial penalties, while every other country just do as they please.
It seems the main purpose of most of the EU directives seems to be to see how silly they can make the British look. Well I've had enough.

More to the point they make these stupid euro directives/nonsense and we the British like fools follow them while everyone else sticks two fingers up to it and takes no notice.

But without sliced bread....we would have no cheese on toast. Its an essential partnership..that isnt however, a foody metaphor for the EU, they can do one and leave us alone, just leave behind some St.Agur and a nice creamy Brie on their way out

It could be though - while pre-sliced bread might be mildly convenient, if it came down to it a bread knife is a lot cheaper than an industrial bread slicing machine, plus if you slice your own bread you have total freedom over how thick you choose to cut the slices; who do these pre-sliced loaves think they are, telling me how thick I should have my sandwiches.

the problem is that most toasters won't accept thick bread. also it's clear that toasters were designed by a woman as they should be horizontal, otherwise the cheese makes a hell of a mess in the toaster, not to mention eggs.

we don't need their soggy cheese. we got cheddar and wensleydale.
It doesn't stop there - we have Red Leicester, Double Gloucester, Stilton, Dorset Blue Vinney, Cornish Brie, Stinking Bishop, Innkeepers Choice...
British cheese is the best in the world and we don't need EU desk jockeys telling us how to make it.
