Hi Guys. I need to get a report done by 2pm. Sorry if this is a lame question but I am having thoughts on the main switch rating. Its TNC-S. 100amp 1361. Small house. Immersion removed and single socket installed, one socket ring, one cooker radial, two lighting radials. All on 63a Main switch 30mA RCD ok so far BUT 6 years ago they have had a 9.5kW shower fitted to this same consumer unit. Im thinking the 63a not enough?

any signs of the RCD terminals overheating? to overload a 63A RCD/main switch, they'd need the shower, cooker, and a couple of 3kW heaters all on at the same time. forget it. you could, if concerned, make a note in the comments section recommending an upgradeto 80A, but i'd not bother.

Hi,
Most people on here will tell you, pulling a constant 60A + just isn't going to happen. Do your Diversity checks, see what you come up with, if you are still concerned then maybe reccomend an 80A. After all it's an EICR, use your knowledge of the said Installation and make a decision either way.

Regards.

Think you answered your own question here!! lol!! 6 YEARS and no mention from you of any signs of overloading or terminals burning to this RCD!! Average 3 bed house you'll be lucky to see 45-50A for more than a few minutes, most of the time you'll be in single to low double figures!!

So do you have a problem in this instance?? ...NO!! lol!!

Good point, they do look a bit 6mm-ish when you mention it, and that is not going to last long enough for a D63 to trip! It might, on a good day...
