I want to extend a customer's lighting circuit into a downstairs bathroom to provide more light points (there's only one there now, and it's in wrong position) and hook up an extract fan.

There's no RCD on CU. I'm wondering if there are any reasons why I couldn't use a Powerbreaker RCD to cover the whole circuit? Straight out of CU into Powerbreaker - then whole circuit is covered by 6A breaker and and RCD.

Its sounds to easy - so there's probably a reason why I'm not supposed to do it - just can't think of it at moment

First of al what type of board is it because if it is a circuit breaker board you may be able to use an RCBO but do not use a Powerbreaker RCD these are for portable appliances (or am I thinking of a differant thing here)

It's a Wylex plug-in type CB board. I'm pretty sure there's no plug in RCBO for that.

The Powerbreaker-type units I'm thinking of are usually BS7288 and designed to protect a spur - but still a 30mA RCD (and presumably B curve, but would need to check that).

If you can put a 61008 in a garage unit on a radial circuit - well, a spur is a sort of radial circuit! :)
