Anybody else come across a lot of this, this is prob my 3 in a few months all in houses less than 10 years old

been to a house today and they was complaining lights flickering so they bought a new fitting for bathroom as this is where it was doing it most.

So fitted light new light and checked all terminals in each light all ok

check fuse board and they had used bits of 4mm instead of busbar in some places and where there was busbar it wasn't even sat in mcb properly which was causing the flickering so very lucky didn't arc to much

and before anybody says why change light before checking board they wanted light changing anyway

I assume the I OP means they have added MCBs onto the rails in the DBs and because the busbar wouldn't reach they just put bits of 4mm2 singles to feed the MCBs, if so that is total carp.

I seen in a lot in industrial sites were the bus bar isn't long enough and they have added a circuit on the end.
In a distribution Board??

Seen it when the bar has been chopped at the last cb, then 3 spare ways.......but no bb available for them. Definite nono, considering protective device.

All same hager breakers they had used cable from main switch to first mcb then bus bar till second from end and cable from 4th from last till last was really odd

sorting it Monday with all new busbar

Here we go again!
Not at all, just saying, wasn't trying to be sarcastic this time either, just think it is the case, the standards regarding training is getting easier I think, and due to short courses and lack of proper apprenticeships things are not as they should be, but thats just my view and to be fair I am now worn out explaining it.

No need to bow out mate, just address the root cause of the problem; a bloody cowboy! Not the result of crap training :)
The fact is the guy who installed the 4mm2 cable may not have had enough training, thats my point, and he may have thought he did a decent job without realising due to a short course and no real on site experience.
