changing 3 d/bs all rcbos. 1 storage heating , 1 direct heating and 1 domestic d/b. Now the old immersion heater is wired through the domestic d/b to the direct heating board was on 5 AMP??? Block !!!but i have now put this in a patress box outwith the d/b.I also have 3 x1.5 cables for an alarm system as such!! basically its an outside bulkhead with a bell chime.with 5,6amp pull cords! old folk housing. after crawling thru the glass wool traced all cables. and the majoity go to the domestic d/b.not sure who wired this but they had some serious issues!!!3 core cable is something they do not understand!!the ??? is would you acceppt thru crimps or chock block in the d/b or re-wire??? now a know how folk feel about crimps and block!!!!!(dont want that debate) not sure if ill be given the green light to rewire the circuit,a hope so!! but i will ask tom!! just dont see the point in having uneccesary joints!!what do you guys think???is there a reg that says yes or no???

IMO i would use thru crimps as now classed as a permanent connection,but why not go for a rewire.Reading the post mate,you really haven't said why you are at the job,what is the exact problem:confused:

work for a local council and its a tenancy change which basic means change all fuses to rcbo and 100% testing. change all plugs switches e.t.c. this is the first time a have came across this jurassic alarm system!!!yes it is just a basic light system but shold you really be crimping ang blocking cables at the d/b !!ye a know you could class it as a big j/b . also what would do you run to the chime?? s/w and nuetral??

Sorry mate i don't want to sound rude here,but if you are working for a local council(LABC),shouldn't they know all the regs regarding residential homes.If you are going to change all the CU's,they will need a PIR.You keep going on about a bell chime.What exactly are you there to do mate:confused:
