I've just taken out a 20W bathroom fan as not powerful enough, swapped over for a 32W centrifugal that does a nice job but doesn't come with a run on timer. Do you reckon the circuit board from the 20W would hapilly run the new 32W fan? Then I could just put it in an enclosure instead of wasting it.

There are no markings on it to give any idea of power rating, called all the Manrose tech lines but were all going to answerphone

I would guess it probably would work fine. With such low power rated appliances it's doubtful the switch contacts in the timer are closely matched to the load.

Thanks, it's the actual electronic circuitry that I'm concerned about though, little resistors and a microchip and all that gubbins. It might just be the same timer they use on several sized smallish fans but I want to make sure before setting it up in a loft to catch alight!

I can only guess at this but the fan motor will be controlled by miniture relay or contactor possibly a little box object on the board, this is the unit you need to check for rating, the rest of the electronics will be for timing and power smoothing purposes and not of concern as they will only energise and de-energise the relay which inturn will have the higher powered fan going through it.

Cool thanks. No markings on anything inside it (whole circuit board is only 3"x1"), will just leave off a timer then maybe order one for a 30W fan and see how beefy it looks in comparison. Just trying to save them £30 if the existing one will do it, it's only a month old and seems a waste
