ive been pondering if a utility room with a sink & toilet come under the requirements of a special location ,surely it does ?? i just wonder why part 7 of regs doesnt mention anything about risk of shock near water for somewhere like a utility room containing a sink.
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this.must come up quite a bit i would of thought.

Still classsed as a wash room i would of thought. Still possibility of danger from facilities in this area. cant think of reg but i would class it as special location and provide adequate ADS. The threat is still there. .

a special location contains a bath or a shower (701.1) (swimming pools etc. notwithstanding). a kitchen has a sink and that's not a special location.

thanks guys.bet its not in the big green book either lol.i 'l treat it as a special loc and that should keep me in the clear.no pipes are bonded so that'l need doing.main incomming supply has a 100 mA rcd but thats no good for this application...need to get 2 x 30 mA for both lighting and just one socket.cheers lads.

BUT....Part P building regs DOES classify a kitchen as needing special requirements, and would guess that is extended to utility rooms.

No it doesnt....as far as installation is concerned the general requirements of Bs 7671 apply...nothing else.

I stand corrected! What I had in my mind was the fact that it's a notifiable location under part p.

utility is notifiable if a new circuit is involved . any work done, however must comply with BS7671 and earthing and bonding issues addressed.
