The UV in my koi pond set up was initially wired up to a switch box but it stopped working a while back. Today I tried to fix it... The first thing I tried was to replace the time delay fuse in the switch box but this blew the replaced fuse plus 2 other fuses (used for linking the switch boxes together).

I then wired the UV to a plug and plugged it into a socket in my garden but this tripped all of the outside electrics!

So my question is.... UV's do need the bulb/lamp replacing now and again but if it's just a problem with the bulb/lamp would it trip the electrics in this way? I am just trying establish if it just needs a replacement bulb/lamp or if the problem lies elsewhere?

Hello, when you said "blew",is that the fusing,or any RCD supplying that circuit?

Some of the pond equipment sold, although rated and approved, does not fare well, during our years weather patterns.

Just out of interest, when you say that you put a plug top on the device, how many conductors were connected?....double insulated will mean squat,if it has a crack in it,and is wet
