Got a bolloxing tonight for using the van on Saturday for my own use. Considering getting a different boss as not much point being there of he can't trust his men :) anyone else have the same bother?

Sounds as if your not supposed to be using the van for personal use. He may have justification in his lack of trust.

eh? I'm not sure if i'm reading this correctly. you get a work van, you used it for your own personal use, then the boss gave you a -------ing for doing so?
if that's right, wtf are you moaning about. you were out of order, and got told as much. deal with it.
if that's wrong, please correct me.
also, what's this got to do with a tracker?!

Im guessing that's how he got caught

A lot of companies have trackers fitted to their vehicles it's when you are somewhere you shouldn't be during work time is your bigger problem like leaving site early or booking overtime when you are actually at home.

May be you should take it as a hint you are being watched and he's looking for some reason to fire you times are hard and jobs have to be done cost effectively and time sheet fraud is one area of abuse by staff that costs in productivity and wages so employers will use every means at their disposal to lose staff without paying more than they have to

Remember as well as getting a chewing from your boss you are also committing tax fraud because having the van for private use is classed as a perk and your tax code will reflect this, even driving to and from home to work without compensating your boss is classed as a perk and needs to be declared... (well it was when i last had a fleet van at last company). Of course the tax man isn't bothered about this if a one off but if regular then yes.

Do you reimburse your boss for fuel used to and from home?

Remember your boss also has to declare for insurance purposes whether you have private use and if a crash happened in your own time then his insurance would be void and your driving uninsured.... if i was him i would have also read you the riot act.... its more than just a cheecky drive in your own time.

Why the hell are you moaning?

You where not supposed to use it and you did.

You used it and got caught using it.

You got a telling off for using it.

Take it like a man and stop whinging, you know you did wrong and was caught simple as that.

Trackers can also save your life. The last company I was with a driver was late back, we started to get concerned as this guy always and I mean always clocked off on time. We called another guy who was on his way back and would be passing the location the tracker was showing. when he got to the location, no van. He got out and had a walk round and heard moaning coming from the other side a hedge. It turns out our guy had severe chest pains and clipped the verge, the van jumped the hedge and stopped. He was hospitalised for 2 weeks. Without a tracker he wouldn't have been found till it was too late.

He's had enough anyway lol , my boss one time let me use his as long as put diesel init, I dumped rubbish for people and moved furniture at weekends. Lol
