Ventilation help.....

Sorry bit vague but its all I've got to go from....

Just going through pricing up some architects plans for an extension, all good apart from one little area.

Have just noticed on the kitchen drawing there is a symbol showing they are having a 'Villiavent ventilation control panel' ?

Any on ideas on what this might supply/ involve ?

And in the little bit of spec for electrical this is what I have :

In addition to natural ventilation, equal to 1/20th the room floor area (including 8000mm2 background ventilation) kitchen and utility room to have mechanical vents with 100mm dia, ductwork to air. Kitchen and utility to have extraction equal to 15L/s. All operated with a humidistat with 15minutes over run'

Little confusing as I get the impression from the Villiavent control panel that this may be something different from a couple of wall fans?

Any thoughts please,

Sy

Also wanting to know what sort of fan you need then to achieve the 15L/s..... for an open plan kitch/dinner/family room that in total is measuring 10000 x 5000 x 2500 ? Pretty big one I guess.

Is there a calculation someone may have please ?

All fans are marked with their extraction rates, 15l/s, 30l/s etc. So it looks like he's wanting a couple of 4 inch fans with humidistat over run. Greenwood Airvac

Thats what I ended up pricing for.... the only fan info I could find was all list in m3(cubed)/per hour.... wholesalers struggled to find out the l/s figure also, but got there in the end. For some reason I thought the size of the room had to be accounted for when working out l/s required.

Still not sure on this 'Villiavent ventilation control panel' ?

Cheers Sy

Looking at the Villavent website they do various ventilation systems so it may be worth contacting them for advice as it doesn't look as simple as some fans and a controller

I think, and you should check that the room sizing comes into the whole ventilation equation more for the designer/architect/builder s the figures take into account door/window openings, trickle vents etc. I do think 15l/s is on the small side for a kitchen and utility room which are more usually 30-60 l/s. As UNG says cntact Villavent for advice but I would also query the des/arch/build as to whether the extraction rates are correct. It could be that by having humidistat control they can get away with smaller fans.

New thought

It appears that Villavent do whole house ventilation systems so the kitchen/utility could be just top ups. Query the architect

I have priced for 2 x 4" wall fans with humdi stat which are rated at 28L/s, as the spec on the Villavent was very vague, given plans on Fri night, estimate had to be in for Sat am.... great loads of time. We'll see what comes back,

Thanks again for all your help chaps,

Sy

It sounds if it might be a whole house system, (main extractor in loft with flexis running down to bathrooms and kitchen), these tend to have a controller in the kitchen to boost the system when cooking. I hope you specified what you`ve priced for
