Tidy Max

Hi chaps. Some prompt help would be very very much appreciated here.

On site at the moment and i have fitted a new video intercom reusing the existing door mag and mag power supply. Upon energising the mag wont lock it just vibrates like mad.

I am sure i read a thread on here a couple of months back but searching for it hasn't proven fruitfull.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks Spark the rub is very short but i will double up on csa and see what happens.

I measured the voltage and its receiving 12vdc. The vibrating is still happening even if i pull the fuse in thr psu but if i pull the fuse in the spur it stops all together.

When you said you pulled the fuse to the PSU and it still vibrates, this sounds like you are using the internal power from the intercom rather than the mag lock PSU, have I got that bit correct ?

The internal intercom PSU may either not be "stiff" enough, or on a long run/too small cabling. if this is the case then you will need to add an external relay that the intercom can operate directly to switch in the heavier mag lock supply.

are the psu and lock matched ie are they the same voltage,ac or dc?

Thabks for both of the replys my like button has disappeared for some reason.

Yes i am using the same PSU for both intercom and doormag, purely because this is how the system was set up as before. I have a spare 12vdc psu (1.5a) which i wil try. The intercom has a built in relay for switching mags but i think i have gone wrong by using only 1 psu.

Thanks for the advice and i will let you know how i get on.

Most door entry systems used unregulated psu...this is to buzz the rim lock on entry, so client knows when to push the door. A maglock requires a separate 12/24v dc power supply, single maglocks draw approx 450mA, Best solution is 12v 2A separate supply using door entry internal relay to operate.
