hi

i have a long cablrun of 500m for a entry gate which possible will have a worm drive so current usage will be low.my question is i have to supply a 13A socket for remote working ect, this socket as not being used constantly should i calculate VD on the 13A which will be used 1 a year are on average of 7ish amps.

also is there any tip on calculating such a circuit as the load will be used on average once an hour.should i calculate VD for the full load even if it is not constant.

cheers blue eyes

ide personally base it on 13A possibly slightly higher (16A) incase you wish to add things onto it at a later date (lights)

500M is hell of a long way, obviously there isnt anything closer you could use?

no the nearest place is 500m away the cable is so far looking a large one and was hoping that i could ignore the 13A that will be used once a year ,but i can see that when the load is in use there needs to be no volt drop
