Discuss Voltage drop on lighting circuit in warehouse in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

This is the main reason i hate modern college training because they dont bother explaining any of this but its crucial to correct design.

I was talking to my tutor today and he was saying that all things like this was from the 2396 course ( design erection verification or something along those lines....)

enlighten me as i did it all 20yrs ago .... when a fresh fully fledge sparky now leaves college been classed as an electrician has he got the 2396 or is this an additional course to be done?

No mate, if you leave at level three, its only. 2360. I never went into design into this much detail. Shame really, but with the calibre of some of the lads it wasnt suprising!

I really wasnt aware of this but explains alot now... we couldn't consider ourselfs electricians if we couldn't design a installation it was a course fail and all part of the same 3 to 4 yr course.... it seriously opened my eyes now to why they are coming out of college so unprepared for anything more than house bashing, yet holding the qualified title too, this is why the term electrician has been watered down so much over the yrs, dont get me wrong i dont blame the students it was Labour gov' getting kid off streets and into jobs by making them easier.
