voltage drop

2395 question regarding voltage drop, cant tremeber the question but it basically asked what is the voltage drop for a 40 amp circuit at 230v with a combined live conductor resistance of .23 ohms any idea? it had me stumped.

9.2 Volts

R1 = 0.115 Ohms
RN 0.115 Ohms

0.115 x 2 x 40 = 9.2 V

I thought it was 9.2 volts but wasnt sure, a always thought the voltage drop was related to the length of the circuit (mV/A/m) but i guess it more down to resistance.

It is related to the length of the circuit look at the equations provided again..... the longer the run the greater the volts drop.

and the higher the current, the bigger the volt drop. as you are given the resistance, you don't need the mV/A/m tyo work it out. it's simple ohms law. V=IR where it gives you I and R.
