Wago 6mm/1.5mm problems

Anyone had any issues getting 6mm into the 0.5mm-6mm wago's?

It's a real struggle getting the conductors into the terminals but the biggest problem is, when 2x6mm are in, a 1.5mm goes in and just falls back out again. The levers feel real stiff.

It's not a comfortable fit. This is a 3 way wago

The push fit wagos I use are 2.5mm- 6mm , red in colour, not sure on the lever type ones.

Never had an issue the 6mm fits snug but goes in alright. Use the smaller ones for up to 2.5 and the bigger ones for 4-6mm
Got to ask why a 1.5 is going in a Wago with 2x6mm out of curiosity

Just tested with 6mm² and 0.5mm² which works OK, there might be a bit of distortion of the connector body that is reducing the grip on the smaller cable but I don't like 0.5mm² in the larger 221s anyway. Seems Good with 1.5mm². 221a are neat and convenient, but they do have limitations and the 222s outperform them in certain situations. Use them in the middle of their CSA range and they are great.

Upgrading lamp post cut outs. 2x6mm SWA incoming but too short to make off into cutout so making off into JB. Small 500mm section of 1.5mm ho7rnf into cutout. 6A fuse in the cutout

1.5 seems an unsual choice of cable for that purpose

I had similar problems with the 221 0.14 to 4mm ones and some 90s wiring.

I don't know if older 4mm2 cable used to be slightly thicker or something but the levers just wouldn't grip it in a way that you couldn't easily pull it off with a light tug. They worked ok with modern 4mm2 cable.

I used the 3-way 773 push fits (the chunkier red ones that take upto 6mm) instead and found they held the cables much tighter. You might find they work better for what you're doing?

Stick a ferrule on the end of the flex and that will built it out a bit. A nice ferruled flex in a Wago always fits nicely.

Yes, I have had problems with the 221-613, although it could be the 612 or the 615 as well. It's not easy to get a 6mm conductor into it. If you look into the hole where the conductor goes it looks more of a rectangle than a square, so I sometimes slightly pinch the end of the copper with a pair of pliers and that seems to help.

Also, I had some burn out which I was using temporarily for a 4kW oven. It's put me off using them for 6mm conductors, so I will always use the 773-173 push in wago's.

That's the one time I don't use ferrules on flex, when they are going into lever wago's. I imagine the lever clamping down nicely onto a piece of flex. We all do it a little differently!

I'd be interested to see a picture of this. Im going to presume its a private job because it definetly wouldnt be accepted in a lighting column on a public road

If I was doing that job I'd tee off a 6mm into each cutout to match the existing looped supply cables.
