I priced up a job recently including 2 replacement panel wall heaters in a school. It's only just occurred to me that some I see in schools and youth clubs etc have guards around them, more to prevent kids kicking them in than anything else as far as I know. I just had a horrible thought that if I have to put guards around them I'll actually be out of pocket for doing that bit of the job!

Would you:

A: Replace the heaters as they are and leave them open
B: Replace and put a guard round
C: Replace as they are and put a warning sticker up that they're hot (duh!)

Are there any sort of rules with these that anyone's aware of? I need to order them by yesterday and at the moment I'm swaying towards option A or C!

Have guards been specified?
If not I would go for option A. I agree that anything in a school should be bombproof, but if it's not specified they'll just have to pay someone to replace it after the kids have been at it.
Likewise with option C, unless it's been specified the school may take exception at you putting stickers all over the walls.

No, nothing been specified but I'm just thinking they might say it was up to me to specify they were needed should a kid burn themselves on one of them. Saying that they shouldn't get that hot to the touch that they'd burn you should they. I'll replace them as they are and if it gets mentioned I'll offer to install some guards at extra cost. Cheers :)
