If I was to run swa from the house off the lighting circuit to under the patio to the wall then chase the wall for the swa to run from each light and also chase for the brick lights to fit. Would 2-core 1.5 be ok to use? Rated at 22A, but was more concerned at fixing the glands to the lights as the wall will be rendered and it's just a breaze block wall so there is no gap to put the cable actually in the wall so wont have much slack on the cable once it is rendered.

Brick lights are a nightmare to gland SWA's into or anything else such as hituf. Even if you manage it water ingress is inevitable. Far better to obtain bricklights with a manufactured flex tail and run this to a suitable IP rated enclosure on the reverse side of the wall and take your SWA's into this.

They are a nightmare mate as wirepuller has said, if you are going down the swa route, why not run a 3core swa and then you have a cpc core as belt and braces sort of thing, but i would check with your fitting first as some of em don,t except 2 x cables in one terminal as they are usually foreign rubbish these days.

cool, cheers for the info. The customer has chosen some from screwfix so will pick one up today and see how they are designed.

well the ones they want dont have a supplied cable attached. What I was thinking was fit the back box then gland to the light fitting and have the earth wire link of that to the light fittings. Will be easy enough to do on most as the swa will come straight through the wall so will be able to move it back and forth when the glands on. But there are a few I have no access from behind as it's a retaining all for the garden unless I get a shovel out lol. But I was wondering if you can fix the swa to the back box and then run the cable though the seal with an earth wire link or can you not do that?
