Hey all, just a quick one.

I'm doing some work on a property and noticed the gas and water are not bonded with 10mm. The water has been bonded from a junction box!

The incoming water supply comes in from the main road in copper but runs straight from the stopcock in plastic.

What's the situation regarding bonding?

Do I bond before stopcock, find the first section in copper or is it not a requirement?

Thanks

Does it require bonding?
That's where I would start.
Bonding of an extraneous conductive part is a requirement.
All you have to do is prove if it is or not.
What work is being carried out at the property?

Is that by testing insulation resistance on 500v between the earth terminal and metallic pipe and if the reading is greater than 23,000 ohms then it is not required? . I have jug read this from another post on here.

Where would I test? The incoming copper supply or the first bit of copper after the plastic from the stopcock?

Taking 10mA as being the dangerous fault current then 230v/0.01mA gives you 23,000 ohms, taking 1,000 ohms as average body resistance into consideration. Using an insulation resistance will mean you will recieve your answer in Mohms so your looking at figure of 0.022Mohms. Depending on your test instrument it may only give you three decimal place reading but is a good indication.
Test between MET all cables apart from suppliers earth disconnected to whatever part in question, to find if it is infact extraneous conductive part or a lump of metal.

Thanks.

Would this include the incoming water before the stopcock or just anything after the stopcock? It enters the property on copper and straight out in plastic so if I had to bond the incoming water then it would have to be done before stopcock.
