I'm half way through an extension and the bloke wants the water meter moving to the new utility room the builder is doing this next week, but there is no way to get the 10mm to the new stop cock now its all plastered. cant be surface so it will have to go under ground.
can a 10mm single be buried in a ducting??
or what other cable could I use .
many thanks.

Stick it in a ducting but just keep in mind any mechanical damage issues

the current water main is copper (the old kitchen) that will be buried in the wall and I guess then new water meter will be PVC from that to the new position and back again to re connect to the existing pipe. if that is the way the plumber dose it. But thinking about it there would be no-wear to connect a bond unless it was buried in a wall???.

the only reason the bloke is happy to pay for the work to be done as he will not have any boxing in any part of the new extension

Its a old cottagte with a extention the bloke has mondernised it. every pipe has been chased in. if the plumber is using pvc (as I cant imagen him to use copper underground) I will have to bond the water pipe in the wall with a photo to prove its been done. cant think of anythink else

The clamp will be accessible?

:)

Fair point but the Regs say if it's a conducting material then it must be bonded within 600mm of entering the property and that bonding must be accessible for inspection & maintenance. tricky, I agree....could you put the bond in a wallbox of some type.

I've used 10mm cable in ducting many times and it should be OK as long as it's providing decent mechanical protection.

It would be a first for me but if I cut a back box with no backing to show the clamp on the pipe would this meet the regs, with a blank plate

.....can't think why not. If it's documented (location) on the Certificate it'll be found by anyone following you and as long as someone can inspect it via the cover I'd have thought it OK. I've certainly found less accessible earth clamps so at least you're showing willing!
