I have a 2.5 mm SWA in a garden coming out of the ground beside a paved circular patio in the middle of lawn. It was originally put in for a light. I was going to joint it in a Ip rated box inside the base of the light and no cable or joint would be seen.
The client has bought a water feature instead which will go a few metres away from the original spot. The feature has a long lead (low voltage side of an IP44 rated transformer) to allow this. The 230 v side of the transformer is a relatively short flex.

Any suggestions as to how to join the flex to the SWA. If I glanded both cables into an IP rated joint box it would just be sitting there on the lawn or edge of patio for people to trip over.
Thanks.

Could you use a resin filled joint kit for the swa. extending the swa beneath the lawn to a position where an adaptable box would be less of an eye sore. Sounds like you may need an enclosure ie IP rated adaptable box to house the tranny in any event.
