Hi Guys
I've been asked to install a 2 Kw water heater in the kitchen area of a small shop. I'd normally put this on it's own circuit but there are no spare ways available in cu plus there are cable routing problems.

The kitchen has a small 32Amp ring cct (2 sockets). Is it totally unacceptable to run the water heater off a spur? I estimate that total loading is unlikely to trip the mcb.

I couldn't find the relevant clause in the regs.

Cheers

You just need to consider the loading of the ring if you have only two sockets on the ring and the water heater, so long as the other socket are not used for kettles in a commercial kitchen then you should be OK.
Overall the advice in app 15 if informative but if you can design the ring so it is not point or wholly overload you are OK.
