I have finlay got around to fitting a water softener at home , this was mainly for the kids and her in doors as they suffer from eczema and water softeners are meant to help aleave the condition a bit especially as we have what seems to be very hard water here ?

The thing is my daughter now seems to be worse and i have got what looks like kidney stones ( last Thursday night in A+E and good does of morphine latter !) , the reason i mention the kidney stones is that a friend who has had them before and seems to think they were linked to , to much salt .

When a water softener is fitted you are meant to leave a softened tap but as we have two kitchens this is in the one with the incoming mains that i do not tend to use so now i drink from a softened supply . This is not meant to cause a problem as apparently a 1/2 pint of milk has more sodium in it than 2 litters of softened water , or so the manufactures say !
Has any one else noticed if their eczema has got worse or any other things alike since having a water softener fitted , or had customers say anything ?

I suffer from psoriasis, any change in water PH no matter how small can set things off. Before I got married I lived in single accommodation in the Army, as the place was in Wiltshire, known for very hard water, all the blocks had softeners fitted, I itched constantly for around 18 months until I moved out.

The best thing I have found is a couple of magnets around the main water inlet, doesn't soften the water but stops the scale from accumulating as much. Kidney stones can be for a number of reasons including hard water, apparently vast amounts of tea can have the same effect.
