I need to fix up an external connection point for a 32A, 240v industrial socket (the blue round 3 pin type).. Ive not worked with these before...
what is the best way to do this, is there a proprietary weatherproof item, like a caravan hook up point, or would a little cupboard need to be constructed?
its for occasional use by marquee/catering people.

OK. What's a bit confusing is that some are marked in the advert as IP rated but some aren't.
For general outside use for rain and ice protection then, is IP 44 good enough?

If its sheltered from the weather you might get away with IP 44 but if exposed I would be going minimum IP 55 or 56, also to remember is if you get rated socket for outdoor it will probably have a locking thread so you also need to ensure what is been plugged in is also the same IP and a locking collar to complement the socket.

As above^ but unless you are given the information regarding what equipment is to be connected,a selection of conversion leads will be asked for...usually by phone,2 minutes after the marquee dudes have arrived...
