I am fully qualified electrician (4 years at college ) I want to start up on my own eventually but I understand that I am not going to have stacks of work straight away I was just wondering what is the best way you have found to pick up private work ie any advertising ? I do not have 2391 and am just a bit confused as to what jobs I can take on and supply relevant paperwork all comments appreciated thanks guys

Start small and build it up a little at a time and be patient

if you can test and cert your work you can pretty much do most domestic works now without joining a scheme, but i would def get insured

just not new circuits or consumer units

At 16 after leaving school i bummed around for 6 weeks then was told by parents time to get a job or im OUT! so down the job center took the first job they offered starting an Antique upholstery apprentship. The deciding it was not for me after a year an only ÂŁ60 a week, Dad got me a start as a labour on site an told me to look at all the different trades and see what one was for me. Having enjoyed electronics at school thought an electrician looked the best, after two years labouring they took me on as an electricaian apprentice one day a week at collage that all started 11 years ago an seems like only yesterday. Must admit the experience of labouring was a good insight into the building trade an i think made me get used to working on site, an working along side with other trades.
