I have 3 fuse boards in my garage 17th edition dual rcd boards that have all got wet due to my stupid garage tin roof that gets condensation and drips all through winter. If they dry out in my house will they still be safe to use? They haven't been floating in water or anything, it's mainly just the cardboard boxes but there is a little bit of water inside. Opinions please :) I'm 50 50

If they look as if they've had a soaking I'd bin them, it'd look pretty bad going to a client's place with a dodgy looking bit of kit. If they can be dried and made to look as good as new then I don't see a problem using them.
Moral of the story, keep them in the house where you know they'll be toasty and dry.

Aye, keep them in a dry place for a while out of the box. Its a bit of a dodgy one this, as half of me is saying they'll be fine and half of me is saying don't risk it.

If its honestly hardly any water, and from your personal judgement you don't think theres been any damage, then go ahead and use them. If theres any doubt then bin them.

Thats all i can say really - probably no help, but as trev said keep them somewhere better next time :) or get that bloody tin roof changed :p

I'd be asking myself, ...why did i leave these new CU's in the garage, knowing that they were going to get wet/damp in the first place!! lol!! So what else in the way of electrical accessories etc, do you leave in this wet or damp garage??

Well I've been in my new house about 4 months so i suppose I didn't know about the roof......because I like throwing new fuse boards away and wasting money and wrecking all my other gear

Thank god I read the post properly,I nearly had a nasty accident there, thought it was a bit like that sign in the pub toilets, WET PAINT,PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN INSTRUCTION. thought it was some new directive from the scam providers that you had to pee on your CU at regular intervals or something lol.
