After many years in various engineering roles and having a great mentor in my Grandad, I try to emulate his wisdom, one thing he taught me was "always use a blade away from yourself" I have banged on about this to my sons & apprentices for eons, So what did I do today ? only stabbed myself in the thigh with a stanely knife cutting out cut outs on a CU , working on my own no mobile signal and I had the service fuse out so no landline, after leaving a trail of blood down the guys drive I got a 999 call out and the paramedics arrived fairly pronto, any way it looked a damn sight worse than it was,not to deep and missed anything vital, so it just goes to show that even the most wary can get caught by the complacency bug and being too far into the zone, anyway all is well and despite leaving his drive looking like a teen slash movie set the guy made me tea and panckes and helped me get the power back on by handing me all the stuff I needed, leg aches like hell still lots of sympathy from my wife cant ahve a beer tho she says

No beer! I'd ditch the wife and go the pub and have the proverbial ripped out of me all night.

Did the same once on the back of my hand. Drove to casualty to get repaired, apparently I'd turned green while they stitched it up.

Think the worst I've done is a terminal driver into the palm if my hand by my thumb, in sure a few of us have done it! The first time I let go of the screwdriver and it stayed there!!!! Was at least 10mm deep, got it x rayed apparently I had just missed tendons etc.!!!

as many have done, cut my self loads of times, lots of little scars here and there, probably look like a self harmer:sad_smile:,but was always told if sparky tape doesnt fix it then its serious, ive patched up some bad cuts with a bit of red tape(hides the blood) that really should of had a couple of stitches..but im still here...and got the scars to prove it as they say,too many little accidents lead to mountains of paperwork, blame, and the vultures looking to sue,so if the sparky tape doesnt fix it,a trip to a&e may be in order.

I feel for you , and hope it does not get infected .
That reminds me of a farm shop we were fitting out a few years back , i was knelt down cutting the back out of some floor boxes so they fitted over the 2x2 trunking in the floor , with a 4" grinder and those really thin silting disc's , I only managed to go and drop it in my lap ! i have never yanked a plug out of a extension lead so fast in my life , but not before a good long slit down my inner leg which nearly had the old boy off if it had not been stopped in time ! :wings:

Ha mate ive done something like this.. although it was abit different./.

OUT in town on a night out Christmas coming close, was absolutely smashed and there were some cable ties the guys left when hanging decorations so like a fool i decide yeh man ill tie my GF's hands behind her back but as being smashed i did it too tight hands going BLUE.. we went into local bar, u got any scissors mate.. No but i have this stanley knife.. He started SAWING at the cable ties towards her WRISTS so me ****ed up GRABBED The knife of him called him a ****ing idiot and did it away from the ties... Straight through my thumb about an inch long dead central you could Pull my thumb apart into two pieces..

So i leave town go to A&E and "apparently" guy was busy with other patients (at 3AM..) Ahh well i left before being seen.. Went home and electrical taped my thumb back together.

Now i have a nice big horrible looking juicy scar down center of my thumb and i cant feel nothing in it =p
