What are your views on this plumtricians install

Hi seen this install in a restaurant toilet , the copper pipe is not earthed and he has managed to get two flexes in it. What is your opinion please?

Obviously they were going for the industrial steam punk look.
The copper pipes may or may not require an earth connection, as the cables are insulated and sheathed. However, I would personally err on the side of caution and provide the pipes with a connection to the circuit protective conductor, in case a cable becomes damaged and causes the pipes to become live.

Thank you for reply, that’s what I thought. Cable could easy damage as there is big loop to light crying out to be swung off

Let down by the pipe terminations to the box on the skirting and the light fitting. As Loz re CPC connection.

Steampunk industrial look or not..... copper pipe shouldnt be used for electrical cables.

Same as using hosepipe buried outside as a cable duct.

Could have used galv conduit and proper electrical fittings.

I quite agree, I don’t know whether or not to contact the restaurant where I saw it and advise them that it’s dangerous. The lights did trip three times during our meal

I get a row off the wife if i mention the state of light fittings in pubs and restaurants.

If the power is tripping regularly like that, i'd be wary of defrosted food that they might be selling to me

Rubbish job. Copper conduit, boxes and fittings is available, and although it would have been more expensive it would have ebena proper job. That is amateur DIY rubbish.

what A waste of expensive copper tube , could have uses black plastic drain pipe and achieved the same industrial look
